Finding peace in your storm.
Matthew 8:23-27, reads:
23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”
26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
Doesn't this story sound amazing! How many times have he we wished we had the ability to speak and POOF the results appeared. What an awesome and powerful thing that would be.
Well my friend, the truth is... you do! If you are a believer in Christ the same spirit that was in Jesus, that raised him from the dead is in you too. (Romans 8:11) So you so see, we can do and experience all that Jesus himself did. The only thing that limits us is our thinking.
So you want that new job, you want to start your own business, you want complete and total restoration of your body, you want freedom from that mental illness. It's already yours! The key to receiving it all is meditating on God's word and speaking what he says. It's that simple. Often times, we don't see what we pray or speak immediately for multiple reasons.
- We have a ton of mental garbage that has to be eradicated before the word can take root.
- We counteract God's work (positive) with what we see (negative) - remember, we are people of faith. We don't war after the seen, but the unseen.
- We speak, but there is doubt and unbelief in our hearts.
How do we get the peace that we need to endure? Do what Jesus did and rely on the word of God.Jesus was able to rest because he knew that God had already taken care of him. So if God would send his only son and give him up for your sins, what more would he do for you. Don't you think he cares enough to take care of you as well?
So how committed are you to taking your peace back from the enemy? If you are ready to move forward and regain territory in this area it is simple. Declare the word of God incessantly over your life. When I need to take ground in areas of my life, I began to write out what the word says:
- I am more than a conqueror.
- I have the mind of Christ.
- I am excepted in the beloved.
- All of my needs are met through Christ.
The beauty of it is that God leaves no stone unturned. He has a solution for every problem you may be facing. All you have to do is get in his word and find the answer. And once you know what he says, focus on his word and nothing else. Not your situation. Not your circumstance. Just his word.
